Outperform yourself

A good fighter never expects to just show up on the night, it’s his tireless work ethic and preparation before the bell rings that truly matters.

Unfortunately, when you leave education there is no opponent, no exams, no regular training and, hardest of all, no mentor to push you.

Most people in this state become distressed and focus so heavily on finding their next opponent (a job) that they forget to train. Months pass and before long they’ve developed ring rust, moving them further away from that illusive contract.

Don’t wait for the call up. Train regularly and relentlessly. Pick up that book of your own accord. After all the bigger picture is not to train for others it’s to outperform yourself.
